The Wright Chef - Culinary Artist in Residence

Working under the mentorship of Miranda Kaiser and working together with the staff at Copper Restaurant + Bar, The Wright Chef will design and deliver exceptional culinary experiences to our members and guests. The Wright Chef will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:


  • Design a menu for the restaurant/bar, prior to the annual re-opening. The menu will include recipes, standards and guides to support consistency throughout the year. It will also serve as a repository of knowledge for Copper Restaurant + Bar to refer to in the future.

  • Source, select and order the products required for the menu, keeping spending in line with the approved budget.

  • Train existing and/or new staff members, as needed to provide an exceptional guest experience.

  • Assist in development of the physical restaurant and set standards for upkeep.

  • Operate the kitchen, bar and dining room on a daily basis, to the highest standards, ensuring an exceptional guest experience.

  • Maintain impeccable sanitation and cleanliness in a safe, comfortable environment.

  • Assist in the development, and support the execution, of at least six major events during the year of residency. Events will include member events, gallery exhibition openings, and public events sponsored by the restaurant.

  • Interact with Guests to monitor satisfaction trends, evaluate and address issues and make improvements accordingly.

  • Consistently and frequently report to the Inn at Price Tower leadership team on challenges, successes, and the state of the operation in general.

Basic Qualifications

  • A foundational culinary education. The form of this may be at a formal culinary school, through an apprenticeship or through significant work experience.

  • Prior experience as a professional cook in a successful restaurant.

  • Evidence of leadership qualities and background.

  • Evidence of prior experience with charity or large attendance dining events from menu planning to execution.

  • A completed application packet including detailed answers to the provided questions.

  • Willingness to submit to drug screen and criminal background checks and meet adjudication requirements.

  • Ability and willingness to interview in-person February 15-17, 2020 in a national competition setting.

  • If you are awarded top placement from The Wright Chef competition, you must have the ability and willingness to relocate to, and live in Bartlesville, OK.  Living accommodations will be provided.

What is the “The Wright Chef” Competition Process and Timeline?

1.  Submit resume and complete prescreen questions

2.  Second round applicants will be asked to do a phone/video interview

3.  Full committee review January 27, 2020

4.  Finalist competition at Tri-County Tech in Bartlesville, OK February 15-17, 2020

5.  Reception on Monday evening, February 17

6.  The Wright Chef selected the week of February 17

7.  Begin work in mid March 2020
